I have a Daewoo tv, and I have this black box on my screen that won't go away unless I press a button but will come back two seconds later. I read on another site that this resulted from having the text from the closed caption turned on. (I have Verizon Fios and a Motorola top box converter) I have no unearthly idea how I turned the closed caption on; I must have hit a button by accident. I have looked at other sites with the same problem, and they all said to go to the menu section, then go to the accessibility section of the menu. Well, I did go to the menu, but I don't have an accessibility section in my menu. So, I'm sort of stuck on what to do to get this black box off of my screen. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!Blank Closed Caption Box Blocking My TV Screen. Can't Figure Out How To Get Rid Of It! ?
Closed captioning is a feature of the TV itself. Use the remote that came with the TV or press the menu button on the TV's front panel. Depending on the TV the closed captioning option may be in a section labeled ';Special';.Blank Closed Caption Box Blocking My TV Screen. Can't Figure Out How To Get Rid Of It! ?
I don't know how to shut it off if it is the TV CC, but if it is from FIOS you need to do this w/ the FIOS remote:
Menu
\/ (to)
Settings
%26gt; (to)
Accessibility
%26gt; (to)
Closed Captions
OK
Off (will be the first one on the top of the list)
OK
Exit
If that doesn't shut of the CC it is directly from your TV itself.

This is how your tv dies. Suddenly the CC box appears or the MUTE sign won't go away. There is nothing you can do to make it go away. The repair is $125 if the service guy has the right parts. He won't have any Daewoo parts so the repair is $400. You did not hit a button by accident..
